For the purpose of the Data Protection Act 1998 (the Act), the data controller is Lantech Systems.

Information we may collect from you

IP addresses, sessions and cookies
We may collect information about your computer, including where available your IP address, operating system and browser type, for system administration. This is statistical and security data about our users’ browsing actions.

However, if you select this setting you may be unable to access certain parts of our site. What is a cookie? – When you enter our site your computer will automatically be issued with a cookie. Cookies are devices which identify your computer to our server and personalise the site for your future use. Cookies only record the areas of our site that a computer has visited. A cookie will not provide us with any personal information. Therefore, if you have not supplied us with any personal information, you can still browse our site anonymously. If you do not want a cookie you can set your browser to deny it.
IP Address – If you are connected to the internet you will have an IP Address. This may take the form of a figure, such as 111.222.33.4. The address will be automatically collected and logged as part of the connection of your computer to our web server and may be used to determine the total number of visits to each part of the site. If there is a security breach the relevant IP Address will be identified by the Internet Service Provider and the user may be contacted.
Where we store your personal data
The data that we collect from you may be transferred to, and stored at, a destination within South Africa. Staff maybe engaged in, among other things, the fulfilment of your order, the processing of your payment details and the provision of support services. By submitting your personal data, you agree to this transfer, storing or processing. We will take all steps reasonably necessary to ensure that your data is treated securely and in accordance with this privacy policy.
All information you provide to us is stored on our secure servers. Any payment or trade transactions will be encrypted. Where we have given you (or where you have chosen) a password which enables you to access certain parts of our site, you are responsible for keeping this password confidential. We ask you not to share a password with anyone or to use that password for other sites or services as they might not keep that password secure and an insecure password could put you at risk!
Lantech Systems has made every effort to ensure our site is safe and secure. In addition to this we make use of a Thawte Security Certificate to ensure all data is encrypted, however the transmission of information via the internet is not completely secure. Although we will do our best to protect your personal data, we cannot guarantee the security of your data transmitted to our site; any transmission is at your own risk. Once we have received your information, we will use strict procedures and security features to prevent unauthorised access.

We use information held about you in the following ways:
- To provide security and to aid us with fraud prevention.

Access to information
The Act gives you the right to access information held about you. Your right of access can be exercised in accordance with the Act. Any access request may be subject to a fee of R300 to meet our costs in providing you with details of the information we hold about you.
